We released our first album Poor Health Good Spirits 4 years ago on leap day, 2020. We really called it Poor Health Good Spirits. End of February, 2020. We swear we didn’t do COVID as a marketing ploy. It wasn’t us.

We recorded the music for Poor Health Good Spirits in 2019 when we’d only been playing together a couple of months. By leap day, 2020, we had a better idea of the kind of album we’d like to make. Instead, after a few unexpected months of pandemic and protests, we had an impromptu, socially-distanced goodbye session at the end of the summer. Those improvisations were released as Flights, recorded by and featuring Dex Wolfe, who also recorded and mixed our first album.

A while later, Miles found another pink bear in the dirt, and we took it as an omen. We returned to our home base of Minneapolis to make an album our way. Jack engineered, Miles mixed, and Matt wrote most of it, as usual. Our good friend Jason Koth mastered it. After sitting on the recordings for a while, the next approaching leap day forced our hand. Please enjoy Gentle Sports.
